Back by popular demand, Dr. Scott LaDeur, political science professor at North Central Michigan College, will present “Government 102,” a more in-depth look at the legislative process. Dr. LaDeur will cover various topics that help explain Congressional behavior, including campaign financing, lobbying, committee work, bill sponsorship, and the rules of debate on the House and Senate floor. Dr. Scott LaDeur, political science professor at North Central Michigan College, holds a PhD in political science from Northern Illinois University focusing on American politics and international relations. He has held teaching appointments at five institutions and is currently on the faculty of North Central Michigan College. He serves on the Executive Board of the Michigan Political Science Association and is active in research on foreign policy making in the U.S. Congress. He has taught courses on a wide variety of issues including terrorism, elections, political cinema and the rise of China. He and his wife live in Harbor Springs with their 3-year old son.
