This bin is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities in cooperation with the American Library Association. The collection is designed to encourage young people to read and understand great literature while exploring themes in American History. The stories in this collection demonstrate how individuals throughout history have sought to achieve the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Each book was chosen to engage young readers, parents, and teachers as well as to help them learn more about events, people, places, and ideas in American History.
The “We the People” Bookshelf is part of the National Endowment for the Humanities “We the People” initiative, which supports projects that strengthen the teaching, study, and understanding of American History and culture.
