Babies & Books Fall Sessions occur on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Program Room beginning October 7 – November 4. This program is geared for children birth – 18 months. Registration is recommended, but not necessary.

Life Long Learning
Petoskey District Library, Lower Level Conference Room - $25/3 classes
Learn to appreciate poetry as a diverse literary art form through close readings and discussions of classic and contemporary poets. Examine lyric and narrative poems and their elements of imagery, tone and voice. Led by Michigan writer, editor, instructor and poet Tanya Muzumdar.
Hobbies in the Lobby - Latch Hooking
Learn how to turn fabric strips, twine, and mesh into functional and decorative items, perfect for use around your own home or to give as a gift. The same techniques we'll use to make a 'mug rug' (aka coaster) can be used to make throw rugs, place mats, and more. Taught by instructor Tricia Rodgers. Class size and materials are limited, so please call 231-758-3111 to register.

Parent Child LapSit
Parent/Child Lap Sits will be offered every Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Program Room beginning September 28 – November 16. This drop-in program is geared for children 18 months – three years old.
Afterschool Crafternoons are held on Mondays from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the children’s program room beginning September 28 through November 16. Children in grades first through fifth are encouraged to preregister by calling the Library. All materials are provided, including a snack; children need only to bring their imagination!

Mentored by Mr. Robert Bemben & Robin Ray of Levering. Young people 8yrs and up may drop-in at any time during the scheduled time. The emphasis will be on open chess play with some instruction. Players of all skill levels are welcome and are encouraged to bring chess sets from home if they have them.
PAWS to Read - Micky
The theory is, that by reading out loud to the dog, who doesn't judge how well the child reads, the child’s self consciousness disappears and she gains the confidence needed to become a better reader.
Readers will need to schedule a 15 minute appointment at the Youth Services Desk or by calling 231-758-3112. Open or cancelled slots will be available on a first-come, first served basis.
