Kidding Around with Yoga - Mommy/ Daddy & Me (Ages 3-6)
Tuesdays, 1:15-2:15 p.m. Through July 31. Bring your little one in for an hour of yoga play and relaxation. Have fun with partner poses designed for parent & child. Learn fun songs and dances which help kids to remember Yoga poses and keep them wanting to practice yoga long after class is done.
Paws to Read - Micky
Readers earn a stamp on a record card for every 15 minutes that they read to one of our dogs. When he/she has earned 4 stamps, they will receive a "Pawsome Reader" tag to wear as a necklace or use as a zipper tag. If readers complete a second card, they get a “Pawsome Reader” dog tag.
The theory is, that by reading out loud to the dog, who doesn't judge how well the child reads, the child’s self consciousness disappears and she gains the confidence needed to become a better reader.
Readers will need to schedule a 15 minute appointment at the Youth Services Desk or by calling 231-758-3112. Open or cancelled slots will be available on a first-come, first served basis.

Parent-Child LapSit Storytime-Summer!
Parent/Child LapSits and last about 30-45 minutes. Parent or Caregivers need to bring the child and sit together to enjoy developmentally appropriate stories, songs (accompanied by banjo and ukulele); finger plays, flannel board presentations and a weekly visit from Puff the Magic Dragon. These programs are targeted at children 18 months to three years old. Information about parenting, literacy and other family related subjects will be shared periodically during the program.
Due to the developmental needs of this age group, it is preferred that siblings do not attend if at all possible. However, nobody will be turned away if bringing a sibling is the only way for a child to attend. Bringing toys is also discouraged. This is a “drop-in” program and no sign-up is required.
Kidding Around with Yoga (Ages 5-7) with Lauren Brown
In her sessions, taught using the Kidding Around Yoga (KAY) Technique, your kids will be jumping, dancing, and singing all while practicing yoga poses. The KAY system incorporates cardiovascular conditioning, fun and original music plus all of the traditional benefits of Yoga; your kids will meditate, practice pranayama (breathing techniques) & asanas (yoga postures), and experience peace and deep relaxation. Join Lauren for a great class that will open your child up to a new world of calm and relaxation that will carry on through their day! Please bring a yoga mat or towel to use on the ground for the duration of class. (The library has a few in case you forget).
