These programs are targeted at children 18 months to three years old.  Information about parenting, literacy and other family related subjects will be shared periodically during the program.

Due to the developmental needs of this age group, it is preferred that siblings do not attend if at all possible. Category: EventsPaws to Read - Euchre

Euchre1-smallBarbara and Euchre will NOT be available today :-( ...Sorry!)-:

Readers earn a stamp on a record card for every 15 minutes that they read to one of our dogs.  When he/she has earned 4 stamps, they will receive a "Pawsome Reader" tag to wear as a necklace or use as a zipper tag.  If readers complete a second card, they get a “Pawsome Reader” dog tag.

The theory is, that by reading out loud to the dog, who doesn't judge how well the child reads, the child’s self consciousness disappears and she gains the confidence needed to become a better reader.

Readers will need to schedule a 15 minute appointment at the Youth Services Desk or by calling 231-758-3112. Open or cancelled slots will be available on a first-come, first served basis.

There is no charge for this activity
