The Library of Michigan Digital Repository is home to dozens of unique Michigan materials which help you dig deep into the Michigan story. Their collections include government and law information, as well as historic images and documents from the Mackinaw Area Public Library and Presque Isle District Library. And now the Petoskey District Library has begun curating their own content. Librarians and volunteers have started an ongoing project of selecting and digitizing images and documents that are currently housed in locked cabinets in their Local History Room. Some of this will include historic photos, postcards, and archival documents. Browse Petoskey's digital items, and do check back as it continues to grow.
“This is really exciting! The Library has a ton of historic photos and artifacts locked away for safekeeping, but now we finally can unearth these treasures and exhibit them to the public. You’ll be able to view historic photos of the people and places of early Petoskey, as well as letters and documents that tell a story of our area from a completely different time,” said Mary Beauchamp, Reference and Collection Development Librarian and Petoskey District Library.
