Check out Petoskey District Library's (PDL) Things that you can take home if you are over 18 and have a PDL card in good standing.  Please sign our Library of Things agreement and turn it in at the Reference Desk in order to check out a Thing. All Things must be picked up and returned at the second floor Reference Desk.

Adventure Kits - Explore Petoskey

TOPO Adventures are self-paced excursions where you have fun exploring, making your own discoveries and learning lots about a place. It’s sort of like a scavenger hunt! Everything you need to create your one-of-a-kind experience is in your adventure kit. Choose from 3 different adventures: All Around Petoskey, Bear River Valley, or Petoskey Waterfront. This makes for an excellent family day or an opportunity to learn new things about the area.

Board Games

Choose and check out from a variety of tabletop board games. Many of our games our Mensa recommended. Place a hold on a boardgame.

Exploration Kits

Explore a new topic with one of our Place a hold on a Exploration Kit.

Fly Rods

We have two fly rods to lend out, thank you to the Miller Van Winkle Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Place a hold on a fly fishing rod.

Ghost Hunting Kit

Are you looking for some spooky fun? This kit comes complete with a Spirit Box, a voice recorder, an EMF reader, and a UV flashlight, all in a handy carrying case. Place a hold on the Ghost Hunting Kit.

Kindle eReaders

Check out one of 6 Kindle eReader devices for a three-week period. Each Kindle is loaded with dozens of titles, ranging from best-selling fiction to interesting nonfiction reads, and more. Place a hold on a Kindle.

Kitchen Equipment

An ice cream maker, a waffle cone maker, a food vacuum sealer, novelty cake pans, a dehydrator. Place a hold on kitchen equipment.

Light Therapy Lamp

Delivers LED light to your home, office, dorm room, or apartment. This lamp will help you regain focus and concentration, and may help with lift your mood. Place a hold on Light Therapy Lamp.

Michigan Activity Pass

The Michigan Activity Pass (MAP) presented by The Library Network is a partnership between Michigan's nearly 400 public libraries and hundreds of Michigan's state parks (formerly the Park & Read program), historic sites, cultural attractions, campgrounds and recreation areas. Print out your MAP.

Microphone and Podcast Kit

Perfect for starting a podcast or gaming, this kit produces clear and powerful sound for your needs. See the Microphone and Podcast Kit.

Outdoor Games

Check out corn hole, bocce ball, or Molkky, and more. View our collection of outdoor games to place a hold.

Roku Streaming Sticks

Stream movies and television on one of our Roku sticks. Each stick has different streaming services, such as Apple TV, Netflix, Britbox, and Hulu.

Please do not add any apps or attempt to purchase new or additional titles or you will be blocked from borrowing Roku sticks. In addition, you will be fined the amount that was purchased. 

If you log in to your Hoopla or Kanopy account, please make sure you log out prior to returning the Roku stick. 

A smart TV (HDMI port) and a wireless network are required.

Sewing Machine and Serger

A Brother sewing machine is available for checkout. Place a hold on a sewing machine or place a hold on a serger.

Shotbox

The Shotbox is a portable photo studio that you can use to create professional looking photographs with your phone. Place a hold on the Shotbox.

Snowshoes 

Thanks to the generosity of Petoskey's Bearcub Outfitters, the Petoskey District Library (PDL) now has snowshoes to lend with our Library of Things! With their collaboration, PDL cardholders can now come in and borrow snowshoes of every size- from the smallest to the tallest. Come on in and check them out! Place a hold on snowshoes.

Technology and Equipment

The Petoskey District Library has technology and equipment to lend. Examples are a Square Reader, a movie projector, a telescope, a Kodak 8mm film digitizer. Take a look and place a hold on some technology and equipment!

Ukuleles and Steel Tongue Drum

Learn how to play a soprano ukulele and jam with some friends. Or try our tiny steel tongue drum! Place a hold on a ukulele. Place a hold on the steel tongue drum.

WiFi Hotspots

Hotspots will deliver you the internet, all in a tiny box. You can use this at home, on your road trip, or anytime that you need wireless internet in a pinch. Place a hold on a hotspot.
