Petoskey District Library Continues Women + Water Programming with River Care Event
The Petoskey District Library (PDL) and the Conservation Resource Alliance (CRA) are partnering to present River Care: Restoring Rivers & Revitalizing Habitats in Northern Michigan, a program highlighting efforts to protect rivers, wildlife, and natural resources across northwest Michigan. This program is free and open to the public, and all are welcome to attend on October 6, 2026 at 5:30pm.
Attendees will learn how CRA works with local communities and partners to address environmental challenges through its River Care Program. The event will address practical conservation efforts to restore and protect Michigan’s waterways and the importance of collaboration in caring for these vital resources.
Presenters Tori Wolever and Aubri Brown of Conservation Resource Alliance share a deep connection to northern Michigan’s landscapes and waterways. Tori, CRA’s Engagement Specialist, draws on her background in environmental planning and public service to connect communities with conservation efforts. Aubri, CRA’s Development Coordinator, builds relationships with supporters and helps connect people with opportunities to protect the region’s natural resources. Both are passionate about spending time outdoors and enjoying the forests, rivers, lakes, and trails that inspire their work.
This program is part of the PDL’s related programming for Women + Water, an exhibition created by artist Mary E. Burns featuring 29 jacquard portraits of women working to protect and sustain water around the world. The program extends the exhibition’s themes of environmental stewardship and community action. The exhibition will be on display on the Petoskey District Library's second floor from August 27 through October 15, 2026.
