Petoskey District Library to Host Secretary of State Mobile Office on June 18

Petoskey District Library has announced that the Michigan Department of State (MDOS) will be bringing its mobile office to the library on Wednesday, June 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Since 2021, the Secretary of State mobile office has brought services directly to the residents of Michigan through partner organizations that support communities with limited access to their offices and the internet. The redesigned and streamlined mobile office can be set up in the lobbies and shared spaces of senior centers, homeless shelters, foster-care facilities and other community organizations.

The Secretary of State mobile office will be set up in the Petoskey District Library's main lobby to assist people in handling many of the same transactions conducted at brick-and-mortar offices, including:

  • Apply for first-time Michigan ID
  • Renew driver's license or ID
  • Convert to a REAL-ID
  • Complete most vehicle transactions
  • Apply for or renew a disability placard
  • Register to vote

Those planning on taking advantage of the MDOS mobile office at the library should review the Secretary of State's information on transaction types and related fees, available on the library's website (PDF reader needed).

Though not required, appointments for the mobile office are strongly encouraged to reduce wait times. To schedule a time for your mobile office visit, contact Jodi Haven, public services librarian, at 231-758-3121 or jhaven@petoskeylibrary.org. To better prepare for your mobile office visit, please refer to the Secretary of State's document requirements information, also available on the library's website (PDF reader needed).

For more information about this and other Library events, please call 231-758-3100 or visit us online at petoskeylibrary.org. The library’s hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
