So, what’s all the “hoopla” you’re hearing about Hoopla!?!
Hoopla is a digital media service that lets you borrow movies, TV shows, music, audiobooks, eBooks, and comics to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or smartphone. With no holds and unlimited simultaneous users, everyone can enjoy the same title at the same time!
You can stream content instantly or download it to your mobile device for offline enjoyment. With hundreds of thousands of titles and new ones added daily, there's always something great to discover. Each user can borrow up to 4 titles per month.
Hoopla operates on a pay-per-use model, with titles ranging in cost from $1.99 to $3.99. The average cost per checkout to the Library is $2.23. To help our annual budget last throughout the year, we've set a daily spending cap of approximately $40.
If you're a regular Hoopla user, you might occasionally see the message:
This message relates to the Library’s daily budget cap, not your personal 4-item monthly limit. If you see it, just wait until after midnight when the budget resets.
We know it can be frustrating, so what should you do while you wait for Hoopla to reset? Take a look at all the other fantastic digital resources, including the Up North Digital Collection via OverDrive or Libby, and the movie streaming platform Kanopy—all available 24/7 at no cost to you!
