This December, Donate Baby Wipes and Diapers
For years, the Petoskey District Library (PDL) upheld a beloved tradition: patrons could donate canned goods in exchange for having their overdue fines waived. Even after the library board ended daily overdue fines in 2017—providing patrons with greater flexibility and longer grace periods—many community members still fondly recall the program and ask about it.
Although fines are a thing of the past, the spirit of giving remains strong at PDL. This December 2025, the library is continuing this tradition of generosity by collecting baby wipes and baby diapers. Donations will support student parents and the Early Learning Center through North Central Michigan College Campus Cupboard. Community members are invited to drop off donations to the library lobby during open hours. Your contribution makes a meaningful difference—and helps keep this longtime tradition of kindness thriving.
“These contributions highlight our community’s continued compassion and dedication,” said Jodi Haven, PDL’s assistant director. “After hosting the NCMC playgroup during the Learning Center renovation, we’re pleased to keep supporting student parents and the Early Learning Center through the Campus Cupboard with this year's collection effort.”
