Petoskey District Library card-holders should first search our online catalog for items you require. If the required item is not found, search MeLCat. If located in MeLCat, place a request using your name and library card number. If you don’t find the item you require, complete the form here.
The average time required to obtain material from another library is 7-10 days. When several sources must be contacted before an available copy is located, the process may take longer.
Duration of loans
The loan period is set by the owning library and is indicated on the cover of the book. Renewals are at the discretion of the owning library, and must be requested 3 days prior to the due date. In the interest of maintaining good relations with lending libraries, due dates must be honored. If a borrower continually disregards due dates, it may be necessary to refuse further service. Books should be returned to the main circulation desk.
Restrictions on use
Petoskey District Library is bound by any restriction on use imposed by the owning library. The borrower should not let others use the books s/he secures on loan unless special arrangements have been made.
Recently published books
It is often difficult to borrow recently published books on interlibrary loan because they are in demand at the libraries owning them. You may wish to suggest the purchase of such materials for the Petoskey District Library collection.
By requesting an item via interlibrary loan, you are agreeing to the following conditions:
All material on loan is subject to recall by the lending library.
Interloan items must be returned on time.
Requests for renewal must be made 3 days prior to the due date.
If an item is lost or damaged while in your possession you will be liable for any replacement charges imposed by the lending library.
