Local History Room
The Petoskey District Library's (PDL) historical collection, inside our Local History Room (LHR), offers materials that build an understanding of Michigan and the Upper Great Lakes area. Our Ohle Collection was donated in 1973 by the late local historian William H. Ohle, which includes over 1000 books on the history of the Great Lakes region. We also have a collection of local newspapers on microfilm, dating back to 1878. Other highlights include vertical files of newspaper articles and other documents, cemetery records, historical photographs and postcards, scrapbooks, historical city directories, and materials about local and area Indian tribes. View our Local History collection.
Our LHR also holds the Petoskey High School yearbooks (The Petosegan), The Observer, Hermes, The Petoskey High School Annual, and the Petoskey High School Review. Most of the yearbooks have also been digitized and are available to view.
